MINDEF LAUNCHES 2026 PUBLIC INVESTMENT PROJECTS MATURATION COMMISSION

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Mr. Joseph Beti Assomo has presided over the opening ceremony of the first session of the Internal Commission for the Maturation of Public Investment Projects and Programmes of the Ministry of Defence, MINDEF, for the 2026 budgetary year. The event took place on Tuesday June 23 in the Assembly Hall of the Ministry of Defence.

Present at the strategic meeting were the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, and a high-level college of General Officers led by the Divisional General, Major General at the Defence Staff, alongside several civilian and military authorities.

In his opening address, MINDEF expressed hope for constructive and lasting exchanges among all actors and partners involved in the reform, before officially installing the members of the Internal Commission for Maturation. The commission members were appointed on March 24, 2026.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Said Kamsouloum, followed with a keynote presentation on “From Needs Management to Investment Governance: The Stakes of Project Maturation at the Ministry of Defence”. He highlighted the commission’s central role as a key decision-support tool for the high command. Each commissioner was then formally introduced to participants.

The technical session aligns with government directives on monitoring, planning, and optimizing the execution of public investments. It underscores the commission’s pivotal role in continuously strengthening the operational, logistical, and infrastructural capacities of the Cameroonian Defence Forces, a prerequisite for improving overall military welfare.
