Fecafoot Inaugurates New Headquarters in Yaoundé, Marking a Milestone for Cameroonian Football

The Cameroon Football Federation, Fecafoot, officially inaugurated its new headquarters in the Warda district in Yaoundé on Wednesday, May 13. The ceremony, presided over by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on behalf of President Paul Biya, brought together political leaders, football officials, and some of Africa’s most recognizable football figures.

The modern complex is being presented as one of the flagship projects of Samuel Eto’o’s current mandate as Fecafoot president. For several hours, federation officials, guests, and key actors in Cameroonian football took turns at the event, which was framed as a turning point in the institutional organization of the sport in the country.

In his address, Eto’o struck a tone of both tribute and reconciliation. He honored the federation’s institutional memory by paying homage to former president Iya Mohamed, whom he credited as the originator of the headquarters vision. He also extended thanks to Minister of Sports Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, describing the project as a collective achievement despite past tensions between the federation and the ministry.

One of the emotional high points came when Samuel Eto’o turned to Roger Milla, the legendary former Indomitable Lions captain. In a moment that drew applause and visible emotion, Eto’o proposed that Milla take on the role of president of the federation’s foundation, linking the past and present of Cameroonian football.

The new headquarters was widely praised for its modern design and its potential to streamline Fecafoot’s administrative operations. FIFA president Gianni Infantino sent a message congratulating the federation, saying the infrastructure “marks a new chapter in the great history of Cameroonian football.” CAF president Patrice Motsepe also attended the ceremon

Festivities kicked off earlier on Tuesday with a sports walk, a gala match, and a large concert held at Yaoundé’s Military Stadium, drawing fans and former players to celebrate the federation’s new chapter. For the Cameroon Football Federation, the move into the Warda complex is more than a change of address. It’s a statement of intent to strengthen governance, improve efficiency, and reinforce Cameroon’s standing in African football.
