The Miss Cameroon Organizing Committee (COMICA) has announced that Josiane Harangada Golonga, who was crowned Miss Cameroon in July 2025, has been stripped of her title.
In an official statement released on 25 February 2026 and signed by COMICA’s founding president, Solange Ingrid Amougou, the committee said the decision followed what it described as “serious and repeated breaches” of the contractual obligations that accompany the crown. COMICA’s statement detailed several alleged failures on the part of the former titleholder. The committee said Josiane was frequently absent, without providing justification, from a number of major official events.
In addition to these unexplained absences, COMICA accused her of making comments that were deemed disrespectful to the institution and to its members. The organization also said she unilaterally suspended certain activities tied to her mandate and went so far as to appoint a personal manager actions that, according to the committee, violated specific clauses in her contract.
According to the organizing body, attempts to resolve the issues fell flat. COMICA said it issued repeated requests for explanations, delivered warnings and formal notices, but ultimately received no satisfactory response from Josiane. The committee described her lack of reply as a “culpable silence,” and said that, given the circumstances, it had no choice but to act to protect the pageant’s reputation.
As a result of the committee’s determination that contractual breaches occurred, all rights, privileges and benefits associated with the Miss Cameroon title have been revoked with immediate effect. To safeguard the image and credibility of the national pageant, COMICA has called upon the first runner-up to step into the role and assume the responsibilities of Miss Cameroon 2025.
The organizing committee framed the move as necessary to preserve the integrity of the institution and to ensure that the duties of the title are carried out consistently. COMICA emphasized that adherence to contractual obligations is essential for the smooth functioning of the national pageant and for maintaining public confidence in its representatives.
