The Minister of Public Works Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi will visit the Far North Region from May 27 to 30, 2026, to launch reconstruction works on the Mora-Dabanga-Kousseri road and assess ongoing infrastructure projects.
In a press release signed by the Minister on May 22 2026, the visit will mark the start of work on the Tchakamari-Waza-Kousseri section, which includes construction of the Tilde bridge and the Kousseri bypass over 197 km. The minister will also review progress on the Bogo-Pouss road, the Maroua-Moutourwa stretch, and the Magada-Guidiguis-Yagoua route totaling 173 km.
The Mora-Dabanga-Kousseri section is part of the Douala-Ndjamena inter-regional transport corridor under the Project to Improve Connectivity, Resilience and Inclusion in the Far North. Work began in April 2024 on the Mora-Tchakamari section and is nearing completion. The released highlights that the broader project includes upgrading 200 km of municipal roads and other related works, backed by the World Bank with support from President Paul Biya.
According Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, the 32.86-km Bogo-Guirvidig lot and a 5-km road system in Bogo are nearing completion. For the Maroua-Moutourwa and Magada-Guidiguis-Yagoua roads, the focus will be on contractor organization and adherence to schedules. These projects fall under the Territorial Development and Private Sector Promotion Project, financed by the African Development Bank and the European Union.
The visit will assess paving works on about 500 km of national and regional roads, including over 200 km of municipal roads. The investment of around 400 billion CFA francs aims to upgrade the regional network, improve living conditions, and boost trade with neighboring countries.
