Secondary Education Minister, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, has reiterated her ban on corporal punishment in schools following the death of a student in the West Region. The student, Maëva Kom, died after being flogged by a school official at Government Bilingual High School Bayangam.
Prof. Nalova Lyonga expressed her condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of government action. She emphasized that violence and flogging are strictly prohibited in secondary education institutions and promised that sanctions will be applied once investigations are complete.
